Hear from the Specialists.

Harvest Specialist, Brett Asphar recommends “Replacing all the original rasp bars with hooked rasp bars will introduce a stirring effect to the crop mat and increase separation performance in most crop conditions. Up to 34 may be installed and the best results I have documented have been with all 34 installed.”

A combine harvester rotor is the heart of the harvesting process. It is a rotating drum that separates the grains from the straw and chaff. The rotor consists of a series of hooked rasp bars that move the crop through the threshing and separating processes.

Rasp bars are the primary threshing tool and also aggressively combs the crop mat, moving tough or green crop through the combine. In most Case IH Combine harvesters only a limited amount of hooked rasp bars are installed. Brett Asphar who has decades of experience as a harvester mechanic and has completed trials with the Kondinin Group, recommends having the max amount of hooked rasp bars installed on the rotor.
