Driving Harvest Performance Calculator

What does an extra km/hr or a reduction in litres of fuel/hr mean to your bottom line? Compare operating scenarios across fuel, labour, machine depreciation, grain loss and gross margin impact.

Machine class reference — 2025 cost estimates
Kondinin Group Report 157 (Feb 2023): Class 8 total operating cost exceeds $700/h including fuel, depreciation, labour and chaser bin. AgPages 2025: Class 7–8 contract rates $780–$850/h; Class 9–10 approaching $950/h. Diesel retail avg ~$1.84/L.

Depreciation: 8% of machine value ÷ 400 harvest hours. Chaser bin ~$150k at same rate ≈ $30/h. Fuel via ASABE standard (0.044 gal/hp·h at full load) at 85% engine load. JD X9 1000 = 549 hp (Class 8). JD X9 1100 = 690 hp, NH CR10.90 = 700 hp (both Class 10).

Throughput (ha/h) = speed × width × 80% ÷ 10.  Grain loss cost = yield × loss% × area × crop price.  Gross margin = revenue (from harvested grain) − non-harvest variable costs − harvest costs − grain loss value.  All figures are estimates for planning purposes only.
