Primary Precision Seeder Bar

This machine embodies the latest in agricultural research directions and allows farmers expectations in features and performance to be realised. Primary Sales Australia prides itself in our capacity to turn these directions into practical engineering realities, which deliver agronomic improvements.
Development and improvement of the “Nichols” and “Primary-Nichols” precision seeder bars over recent years has positioned this exciting range as “state of the art” choice for minimum tillage, dryland grain farmers.
Offering a combination of features and operating capabilities not generally available from cultivators, chisel plows or indeed other no-till seeders, this bar represents the best choice for one-pass, low disturbance tillage and precision seeding operations.
The Precision Seeder bar also leaves behind many of the limitations of most other bars.
The design package reflects the latest in agronomic thinking, “paying for itself” by usually delivering yields higher than district averages, especially in difficult seasons, while conserving moisture and contributing to soil quality improvement.

TINE ASSEMBLY
Unique features of the tine assembly are incorporated with well-proven, existing concepts, making it a leader in its field.
Authoritative research has proven that a straight near-vertical tine will handle more residue than curved tines.
Combined with the open 5/6 rank frame, this feature ensures excellent stubble-handling capacity.
The choice of a hydraulic trip over a spring tine allows the break out force to be adjusted up to 1000 pounds, at the tine foot.
This setting can be adjusted “on the go” when ground conditions are constantly changing or fixed at a desired setting in more uniform conditions. This adjustability, incorporated with individual tine cylinder poppet valves, controls and limits the flow rate back into each cylinder after trip out.
These features make the working dynamics of the tine relatively gentle, allowing the seeding module to operate behind the tine without compromise.
The tine leg is built in two parts, allowing adjustments to underframe clearance when deeper tillage is desired.
This also allows different depth settings on alternate tines when breaking through hardpans or when horsepower requirements to pull every tine at depth are not available.

(low disturbance) tine and point
design. The wider seeding assembly
remains well above the soil surface
at all times. The relatively vertical
tine along with the narrow design
aids residue flow.
The tine is capable of working to a depth of 300mm (soil permitting). The narrow edge-on tine combined with the unique point attachment method gives a maximum point width of 12mm when working from 0mm to 240mm and 22mm when working deeper than 240mm.

The above figures show two of the more common arrangements used by existing owners. The extensive range of options and extras allows every machine to be customised to suit individual conditions / demands.
GROUND-ENGAGING COMPONENTS

Presswheel – Wide “v” profile
Popular, standard 120mm wide “V” profile tyre is semi-pneumatic, flexing during rotation to reduce accumulation of mud or accretive soils.

FRAME FEATURES

The unique hitch design is an intregal part of the circuit, lifting and lowering the front hitch in unison with the main frame. The drawbar tongue stays horizontal at all times.
Rugged 6/5 row toolbar provides stubble flow the envy of most competitors and ample breakout clearance. The high lift enables easy adjustment.
The lift hydraulic circuit is protected by a serviceable “duellflow” TM inline filter mounted on the drawbar.
Bolted to the frame, this depth indicator is easily adjustable and night visible. Useful between paddocks and to reset the working depth after lifting on corners or over obstacles within the paddock, this feature has recently been added to the standard equipment package.
Centre frame wheel rams feature pemanently fitted “transport / safety stops”, which can be pushed and pinned into place when transporting the machine or when working or inspecting underneath the machine.
Poppet valves fitted to each tine cylinder, together with a serviceable Nitrogen accumulator, control hydraulic flow to make the breakout return dynamics of the tine relatively gentle.
Models 9.7 metres and over feature wings which fold over-centre for safe and stable transport. Wings are secured for transport with safety pins.
MAJOR OPTIONS
High flotation tyres
For extra flotation and reduced ground pressure, specialist high flotation tyres are recommended. Depending on soil conditions and inflation pressures, these tyres give a footprint two to three times that of the standard super single tyres. These tyres virtually negate the need to match tramline widths, in that the operating pressures are often lower than the compaction threshold for most soils.
Retro-fit to recent models is available
Tine-mounted coulters
Coulters are available as an option, which mount into the tine head. These castoring assemblies are depth and pressure adjustable and able to be easily pinned-up when not required. While the frame and tine engineering enable seeding into heavy stubbles, these coulters usually help reduce soil throw and can assist when vine type weeds are an issue.

Castoring gauge wheels
This popular optional version mounts on the front frame and is linked to the wing wheel assembly. Lifting and lowering automatically with the bar, it provides optimal support for the front of the bar in all conditions. The additional flotation is a bonus in wet years.

*Gauge wheels standard machines 42 feet and over.
**Dimensions based on standard tine set up and bar on transport stops.
